Creating a “New Standard” and a Higher Level of Performance

Success too often refers to how much money you earn in a year or what is your net worth.  Many people achieve their financial success but risk the rest of their lives.  They believe that once they earn a certain amount THEN they will take time to spend with family and friends, they will start to look after their health, and maybe even start to find things they enjoy.

Business Owners are no exception.  We want our businesses to be successfully and we pour our hearts and souls into it.  We realized this when our father passed away.  The passing of our father was a huge loss to our family.  Our parents had been married for almost 40 years and worked together 24/7-365 days a year and were still in love with each other.  From their marriage and business partnership, we watched exceptional role models and learned values that keep a family together during happy and difficult times.

From the family business perspective, Dad was the president and a lot of the company knowledge and expertise died with him.

  • There was no succession plan in place

  • Sales were decreasing

  • Expenses were increasing

  • A net loss

  • Competitors lurking

It was at this time we got involved with the family business.  Instead of attempting to improve performance by working harder, longer and with more stress, we learned what key attributes are needed in a business to be a high performer.  We focused on a strong vision of a “new standard” which would make the extraordinary, ordinary.

Fast forward to today, there is a whole different perspective within the business and ownership. The day-to-day operation is run mostly by our team which allows the leadership to work on the business and grow it.  We know where we are going, how we are getting there and have the team and systems in place to support us.  This is something we never had in the business before.  Does the business match the picture we have of it?  No.  Not yet!  But as we say, "We are riding the bike and fixing it at the same time!"

We can take time off and the business still operates and grows without us.  For us (Arlene and Cathy), we are able to focus on our Profit and Lifestyle's clients with all this added knowledge and expertise.

Profit & Lifestyle is a team of performance results coaches and speakers headed by Arlene Schmidek and Cathy Dool. Business partners, friends, and sisters, it is a partnership that brings together more than 40 years of knowledge, experience, and expertise.
